2025:
It’s been 5 years… The all-star center for the 76ers, the savior of this planet, and an unstoppable force both inside the paint and in battle, Joel Embiid mysteriously vanished from Earth. A superhuman who gave up everything to fight for freedom and for humanity, a true hero…
2020:
5 years and 6 months ago… Mike Breen, “BAAANG, Embiid nails the triple in overtime giving the 76ers the lead with 0.6 remaining in the game. Joel Embiid, a stellar performance with 54 point triple double.” The team is celebrating in the locker room, spraying champagne everywhere. The wall is dripping wet and everyone is having fun. A few hours later Embiid is alone and getting changed when he notices the champagne dripping down and draining through a crack in the floor. He goes over to investigate how and why it’s getting through the wall and runs his finger along the crease between the floor and the wall. He used the wall to hold himself up and fell through it because the wall had become weak with it becoming wet. The hole in the wall led to a strange high tech room. Subtly making his way to the light at the end he hears what sounds like two Darth Vaders from inside the room. As he pears through a doorway he sees a massive robot communicating with another on the monitor. Taking out his phone to record the conversation. The one on the monitor spots Embiid and orders the first to exterminate him. As the machine approaches Embiid starts to run, but he’s not fast enough. It starts to beat down Embiid, throwing him to the ground and smashing him till he turns bloody. With every punch thrown Embiid’s eyes start to glow and he miraculously throws one huge punch right through the face of the machine, destroying it instantly. He then sees a flashing light from where the robot was sitting and interacts with the screen. It lights up a holo map of earth with marked locations of other secret bases and marked the most densely populated cities and realizes they are planning to purge the earth of all living creatures. He then takes multiple pictures of the map to bring as evidence to the authorities.
On his way home he realized that he punched the robot with incredible strength and when he got home ripped his front door open accidentally. He then realized that he was no ordinary man, after he debated whether to tell his wife about what had happened, he eventually decided to tell her. She is completely shocked and after a long conversation she says “With great power comes great responsibility. You know what you have to do.” Weighing all his options out and with the support of his wife he ultimately decided to rid the world of these machines. He goes to the authorities and they agree to help him once he shows them the destroyed robot and looks thoroughly at the photographs of the map. With the backing of the US military he goes to fight at all the locations hoping to find more answers. Throughout this crusade he helps plan each attack strategically and is given special access to restricted areas except one room. This whole time he is also wondering why the government didn’t experiment on him or ask how he got his powers. Did they not care? Are they waiting till after the fighting to capture and test him? Or did they already know about him? He then asks why he was not allowed in that one room and they keep dodging the question and refusing to answer. So when no one is looking he breaks the door down and finds a sole computer. He then looks through the files and sees one labeled “the process”. Upon opening the file he is shocked by the deception. He was taken as a child and experimented on by the government. Once the government thought that he had no powers they abandoned the project and cast him out but he was too young to remember any of this. Right now he is conflicted and doesn’t know what to do, so he calls his wife on a burner phone so that the government can’t listen in and asks her what she thinks is the best move. On the one hand he could forget about the whole thing and accept that he has made a life for himself and move on but on the other hand he could confront the government and risk his normal life. After considering both sides he decides to wait until after the fighting to interrogate them.
Embiid and the military are reaching the last outpost but the scouting report says there’s an armada waiting for them to enter along with what seems to be their leader. The attack begins with the US striking first. It is a stalemate, extremely high casualties on both sides of the battle but the US seems to be losing. Embiid’s fighting ferociously striking down any robot in his way but then it’s as if time slows to a near stop. He looks around and sees all the soldiers losing their lives and he is struck with an overflow of emotions. His eyes start to glow again and he crosses his arms and breaks them apart sending a huge shockwave throughout the battleground, disabling all machines and knocking most of the soldiers unconscious. The only robot that was still alive was the leader and he was escaping to his space shuttle. Joel spots him and chases after him running onto a ledge and jumping off into the hangar of the rising ship. Creeping to the cockpit hoping to surprise the enemy leader, he reaches over the seat but no ones there. Out of the darkness the leader jumps at Embiid tackling him to the ground. From here on out it’s a straight brawl, punches being thrown both ways neither seemed more determined to beat the other. But Embiid gathers all his strength and throws the robot to the ground critically damaging its systems. The leader’s last words say that this is only the beginning, they’re coming, they’re all coming… the machine’s eyes fade to black.
Embiid tries to turn the shuttle around but it is all foreign to him. He is stuck on the shuttle heading for the machine’s homeworld. With extremely little connection he calls his wife and tells her, “I won’t be back for a while you just have to trust the process,, I love y…”. The machine had used its last supply of energy to shock Embiid’s foot before he could finish the text. The light from the ship begins to blur as he falls to the ground.
He lays there barely keeping his eyes open but able to witness a large black and green planet getting closer and closer, then everything fades to black…
His eyes are opening and closing as he is being dragged through a mysterious hallway. He is then locked up and interrogated, suffering grueling pain and punishment, the machines are trying to find out what makes him so special. After a cruel 2 weeks of getting tortured they left him to wallow in his pity of defeat. He then reminisces about his wife and all his adoring fans and gathers the strength to break free from the shackles that hold him. Spending time on the world of Apollo (name of machines’ world) he finds out that the machines aren’t conquering, they’re running from a dreadful and mindless infectious species that consumes everything it touches. After learning this he attempts to communicate with the machines by trying to capture and talk to the leader. But this ultimately fails and he was recaptured and put in stronger restraints. Suddenly he hears in the distance an uproar of screams and even with all his strength he cannot break free so instead he pulls the wall with him and uses it as a weapon against the infected. After defeating the first wave of enemies, the machines and Embiid create an alliance with each other. He offers to be the ambassador and unite the two species and offers them temporary sanctuary on earth after both sides determine that the only way to defeat the infected is to destroy the dying planet. He helps evacuate the planets defending the citizens and narrowly escaping the planet. After watching the planet get destroyed by the death star, Joel returns home to reunite with his wife. But he has to establish a truce between the humans and the machines. After several days of convincing the world leaders that they come peacefully, this time, the machine race spend 12 years exchanging information with the humans and had finally found a planet that offers suitable living conditions called Creed.
The end.
Or so you thought…
